The Young And The Restless (Y&R) scoop for Tuesday, August 26 reveals Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) will flash back to memories of his dying father, Colin Atkinson (the late Tristan Rogers).
Also coming up, Cane will record a heartfelt message for his (offscreen) kids. Plus, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will be stunned when Cane tells her he’s not moving forward with his plan.
Y&R spoilers tease Cane will flash back to his last days spent with Colin, who will ask why he and Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) care so much about him. Cane will smile and tell him to stop talking and drink his water.
Y&R Daily Scoop – Cane Records A Message To His Offscreen Kids
Back on his train, he’ll read the inheritance letter from Genevieve, the woman Colin swindled his fortune from. Cane will open his phone, look at a picture of Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and he’ll begin recording a message for Mattie and Charlie.
“It’s a long time coming, but I can’t risk these words not being said.” He’ll address his children, knowing they don’t want to talk to him right now. “But I have to explain why I’ve done the things that I have.” So, he’ll talk about Colin and say the last thing he wanted for them was to have a father they can’t rely on.
Cane will say they’ve grown up into amazing adults. But he’s let them down more than once. “And that kills me.” He’ll talk about how he built his company and never thought small. However, he never let them, or their mother in on what he wanted to do. “I never anticipated the repercussions.”
Cane will tell them he thought he could keep the two parts of his life separate. Then Phyllis will show up and eavesdrop, as Cane continues the recording for his kids. He’ll tell them he loves them and when he hits stop, he’ll hear Phyllis in the foyer. She’ll ask if he sent his kids the message.
However, Cane will say he didn’t. “You should,” Phyllis will reply. She’ll offer to help him. “You love your kids, they love you, so you should send it to them.” Phyllis will add they’re his kids, he raised them. “Don’t do that, don’t defend me,” Cane will tell her.
Young And The Restless Scoop – Phyllis Learns Cane’s Plan Is Now Over
Talk will turn to Phyllis’ assignment and she’ll tell him AI is a technology that’s moving very fast. “Where are you going with this?” Phyllis will ask. “It’ a very powerful tool.” Then she’ll see the inheritance letter and ask what it is. “Victor made his next move,” Cane will reply.
She’ll read the letter and ask how Colin ended up getting the chateau. “He conned a woman out of a small fortune,” Cane will say. Phyllis will say the woman probably loved him. “Jill loved him the same way.”
“Colin gave a sweet old woman the time of her life and he gave you an incredible inheritance,” she’ll add. But Cane will say he didn’t know where the money came from. “So what? He lied,” Phyllis will reply. “Enough of this moral confusion. Don’t spiral, we have a lot to do.”
Cane will tell Phyllis they’ll have dinner later and she’ll leave. And he’ll send the recording to his children and Lily. Then he’ll have another flashback of Colin. Cane will tell his father he’s glad he’s still around. They’re paying the doctors a lot of money.
“I’m tired,” Colin will reply. “I’m too tired.” And he’ll tell his son he needs someone to lean on, his family. “Aristotle Dumas is a name,” Colin will remind him. “Cane Ashby, that’s the one who really matters.” But Cane will tell his dad he won’t let it get too far. “Famous last words,” he’ll reply.
Then Colin will ask Cane what his plan is. “Make it up to Lily in 50 years, when it’s your time to go?” Cane will say he’ll know when the time is right. “You bury Dumas forever Cane, you promise me,” Colin will plead with his son.
Finally, Cane will call Phyllis and say he’s changed his mind. She’ll ask if he’s changed his mind about dinner. “No. The plan is dead,” he’ll reply. “I’m not moving forward.”
