The Coronavirus pandemic has caused cancellations and postponements around the world, including the Young And The Restless (Y&R) OpportuniTea High Tea Charity Event.

Kate Linder, who plays Esther Valentine on Y&R, has hosted the Annual March Of Dimes event for years. The 7th Annual tea was originally scheduled to be held on April 5 in Calgary, Alberta. But the show must go on, and fans can take heart that the event has not been cancelled outright.

“The Sunday, April 5 event has been postponed until Sunday, October 4, in the interests of the health and safety of all involved during the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic,” reads a statement on the March of Dimes Canada website.

Also scheduled to attend were Mark Grossman (Adam Newman), Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin), Sharon Case (Sharon Newman), as well as Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) and Brytni Sarpi (Elena Dawson). The lineup of Y&R stars could change however, due to the postponement.

It includes popular fan events such as a VIP meet and greet, a high tea and a live auction. A photo opportunity and autograph session will follow the auction. The March of Dimes website states that current ticket holders can use their tickets at the October tea.

The OpportutuniTea event donates 88 per cent of the proceeds towards March Of Dimes Canada’s Conductive Education Program. The program’s mission is to promote freedom and self determination for people with disabilities, specifically those with central nervous system disorders.

Young And The Restless News – Other Events Cancelled By The Coronavirus Pandemic

In addition to the Y&R postponement, other soap stars are dealing with the effects the pandemic is having on worldwide events. John McCook, who plays Eric Forrester on the Bold And The Beautiful (B&B) was recently upset by Broadway cancellations.

“My heart breaks for my Son-in-Law, John Krause, who’s Broadway debut as Orpheus in “Hadestown” was pulled from under his feet only hours before “curtain up” by the cancellation of all theater in NYC for the foreseeable future…” McCook posted on Twitter. “Sending all my love..”
