The General Hospital (GH) scoop hints Steve Burton, who portrays Jason Morgan, will be returning to the sudser after a two year absence.
The announcement was made in true cliffhanger style, at the very end of GH’s 60th anniversary special, which aired last night. Three closed doors were shown. Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos) opened the door on the left and Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall) opened the door on the right.
“When one door closes, another one opens.” Then Burton walked through the middle door. “Happy anniversary General Hospital,” he said. “Stay tuned. Big things are coming to Port Charles.”
GH Scoop – Many Fans Reacted To The Return With Glee
Many fans reacted to the news of his return with glee. “Finally! I screamed so loud and I’m elated!” one viewer posted on social media. “GH has not been the same without Jason Morgan. Welcome back, Steve Burton. Can’t wait!”
“I KNEW Jason wasn’t dead!!” another said. “I SAW his arm move behind the rocks after that infamous cave-in, & I KNEW he was alive!! Now he has to be! I always think GH can’t get better but it does!”
Other viewers though worried about what his return could mean for the rest of the cast. “I love GH but with this return I’m afraid it will become the Sonny and Jason show again,” one fan commented. And there were others who also weren’t excited. “I had hoped for a more balanced storytelling in 2024 until that door opened. Now I see a lot of ffing in my future.”
General Hospital Scoop – Is A Jason And Sam Reunion Coming?
Burton’s first go around on GH lasted from 1991 to 2012. After a five year stint as Dylan McAvoy on Young And The Restless, he returned in 2017. But Burton was let go from GH in October 2021, due to COVID vaccination rules.
Soap Opera Digest has reported that Stone Cold will be back early this year. But will Jason’s return lead to a Sam and Jason reunion? As Burton teased, fans will just need to stay tuned to find out!
