General Hospital (GH) fans were shocked to learn the heartbreaking news that Johnny Wactor, who portrayed Brando Corbin, has died.
TMZ reported the actor and a friend saw three men trying to steal a catalytic converter from his vehicle in downtown Los Angeles on May 25th and was shot. Wactor was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead early on Saturday morning.
As news broke of the actor’s untimely and tragic passing, GH fans and co-stars paid tribute to the late actor.
Sofia Mattsson Will Forever Cherish Johnny Wactor
“My heart is so utterly broken…Johnny was the absolute best,” Sofia Mattsson, who played Brando’s wife Sasha Gilmore, posted on Instagram. “So genuine. So caring. Incredibly hard working and humble. With a huge heart that spread so much kindness and joy. He always made sure everyone around him felt seen, heard and loved.”
Mattsson added that she’ll forever cherish in her heart the moments they spent together on and offscreen. “You will be so incredibly busy Johnny…I’m sure you’re already busy taking care of everyone up there.”
Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) also paid tribute to Wactor. “The shock is so terrible, for such a genuine young man to be taken so violently,” she said. “I am so incredibly sad for his family.”
Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) called Wactor’s death “tragic, enraging and heartbreaking. What a lovely man Johnny was.”
Heartbroken General Hospital Fans Offered Prayers To His Family
Fans also took to social media to express their heartbreak over Wactor’s loss. “You could tell through his smile, his spirit what an amazing man he was,” one fan posted. “Such a tragedy that never should have happened. Prayers to his Family, Friends & to all that knew him.”
“This is very shocking and sad news,” another fan posted. “My prayers go out to his family and the whole #GH family as well what a huge loss RIP Johnny.”
Johnny Wactor played Brando on the sudser from 2020 to 2022. He was 37 years old. He leaves behind his mother Scarlett and younger brothers Grant and Lance.
