The Young And The Restless (Y&R) has its share of characters who get no airtime, are only used as sidekicks, or have just outright flopped. The following is a list of who we think should be written off the soap in 2024.
6. Chloe Mitchell
Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) has been around for decades and has had some great storylines. But during the past couple of years, she’s done nothing but serve as a sidekick to Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) or Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). Not to mention, her nasty hatred and badmouthing of Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is exasperating, to say the least.
5. Mamie Johnson
Y&R fans had high hopes for Mamie Johnson (Veronica Redd) when she returned to the Y&R this year. But the hyped up war between the Abbott’s former housekeeper and Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) has been a major bust. Mamie and Jill, who have hated each other for years, should have had at least one brawl, Jill and Katherine style. Instead, writers turned their feud into yet another boring business story. They need to give Mamie a meatier storyline, rather than constantly going on and on about the family business. Or have her exit the soap, tout suite!

4. Tessa Porter
Unfortunately, Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) is only trotted out to occasionally support Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes). Tessa and her wife are popular with many viewers, but the songstress has had no storyline of her own, besides being by Mariah’s side. Y&R writers need to give her something else to do or have her leave Genoa City in 2024.
3. Elena Dawson
Viewers love Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpi). However, she’s been MIA since her break up with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) back in May. The character only appears once in a blue moon to snark at Nate or to treat someone in the hospital. But other than that, Elena’s had zero storylines. Y&R producers should do Sarpi a favor and either reunite her with Devon Winters (Bryton James) or release her from her contract.

2. Daniel Romalotti
Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) is a sad sack if ever there was one. Since he returned in late 2022, all this character has done is moan, whine and complain about everything, all the time. He’s romantically involved with Lily Winters (Christel Kahlil). But they’ll likely break up when Kahlil goes on maternity leave. So, our fingers are crossed that Daniel will reunite with Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom). Then the pair can return to Savannah in 2024. Although admittedly, we’d miss their daughter Lucy Romalotti (Lily Brooks O’Briant).
1. Tucker McCall
Big, bad Tucker made a huge splash when he crashed Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) and Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) vow renewal, via helicopter, in September 2022. The character was hyped as a cutthroat business mogul who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. But what a disappointment he’s turned out to be.
Tucker has plotted and schemed constantly since he showed up in town. But every one of his plans has gone nowhere. It makes you wonder why anyone in Genoa City even cares about what he’ll do next, since whatever he does will end up failing miserably.
Unfortunately, Tucker is not the villain he was purported to be when he first arrived. So, hopefully all of his endless and absurd machinations will lead to a “Who killed Tucker McCall?” storyline next year. Because maybe then there would be a point to this character.

I like Sharon with Chance! I’d like to see more of them- they really haven’t been in alot of scenes together. Definitely don’t like Summer withbChance. She’s so dull and weepy. She needs to perk up!
Mamie can go, Tessa can go, Daniel can go, and Elena can go. Let’s have more of Chloe, and I do like Tucker. Let h8m have a change of heart and be a good guy. Oh, and Audra can definitely go.

Let’s face it this is not due to the actors but the writers who fail to build storylines. Tucker has the potential of being one of the great characters, but the writers hint he is evil without ever producing an evil act. The writers don’t seem to know whether to make Tucker evil or redeemable. Tucker is in limbo.

Mariah can go along with Tessa. Keep Tucker & change his storyline. Everyone else I agree with.
We need new writers! That’s the real problem here. If the actors don’t get a good storyline, no matter who they are, they will not be embraced by the fans.
