The Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) scoop reveals that Sony Pictures reached an agreement with NBC to renew the sudser for another two seasons.
As viewers know, production ended on DOOL’s 56th season on April 16, as producers waited for word on whether they’d get a 57th. But even better news came down the pike today – the show will also get a 58th season.
“We couldn’t be happier to bring our loyal fans two more seasons of Days of Our Lives and continue what has been an absolutely remarkable achievement in television,” NBC Executive Vice President Michael Sluchan announced. “A big thank-you to Ken Corday and the cast and crew for their incredible passion for storytelling that continues to reach new generations of viewers.”

Fans also reacted with glee to the news that the soap would be continuing. “Congratulations Ron, well done and keep up the excellent storytelling,” one fan commented. “Yay! Sony TV knows a good thing! Congrats!” another said.
Although this is great news for fans, news had leaked that renewal negotiations were taking place and the soap had gone back into production. So it’s not that big of a surprise, although it’s definitely welcome news.
Days Of Our Lives News – The NBC Soap Debuted More Than Five Decades Ago
Days of Our Lives debuted on NBC on November 8, 1965. The show overcame a shaky start to become one of the best-loved and longest running soap operas on daytime television. For more than five decades, the Horton family’s journey has been closely followed by a dedicated and loyal audience.
DOOL is NBC’s only remaining soap on the air. It also has the lowest amount of viewers out of the four remaining network soaps. So fans were on pins and needles, hoping against hope for renewal news.
